Share What You’ve Been Shown

“And the angel said to them, “Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.”

Luke 2:10 ESV

If the birth of Jesus truly was “good news of great joy that will be for all the people” why were a few guys in a field the only ones who saw and heard the announcement???

If you have good news for the entire world, why only tell a few insignificant people? This seems like a very inefficient way to spread the news.

We serve a generous God who invites us

to get involved in His work.

He could’ve made an announcement to the entire world all at once. He is God after all, capable of speaking however He wants to whomever He wants.

Yet, Father God chose to share His exciting news with just a few, offering “peace on earth” in the middle of the night in an out-of-the-way place. By doing so, He allowed the shepherds a chance to be key players in the drama of the Christmas story. And they responded with enthusiasm.

“When the angels went away from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let us go over to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.” And they went with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in a manger.

Luke 2:15-16 ESV

These guys were so excited they rushed to Bethlehem, found Jesus, and returned, reporting the news to others.

And when they saw it, they made known the saying that had been told them concerning this child. And all who heard it wondered at what the shepherds told them.”

Luke 2:17-18 ESV

Consider:

What has God revealed to you?

With whom have you shared it?

Remember:

When you see the shepherds around the manger, remember that you have a part to play in God’s work. Continue to share what God has shown you.
